The tardigrade cuticle

چکیده
Abstract Tardigrades (phylum Tardigrada) are aquatic microecdysozoans that have adapted to survive extreme conditions through the formation of cysts or ametabolic tuns. Their body is covered by a cuticle plays an important role in their life cycle, including response and adaptation environmental challenges. Cuticular characteristics critical component tardigrade taxonomy. Therefore, research has often been focused on relationship between cuticular morphology ultrastructure evolutionary phylogenetic positioning phylum individual species herein. However, deeper insight into ultrastructural chemical composition needed. This knowledge not only for better understanding physiology ecology but also development efficient microinjection and/or electroporation techniques would allow genetic manipulation, opening new avenues research. Here, we review data composition. Further, discuss how affected during moulting, encystment, cyclomorphosis, anhydrobiosis. Our work indicates more systematic studies molecular process its needed improve our properties functions.

The cuticle.
The nematode cuticle is an extremely flexible and resilient exoskeleton that permits locomotion via attachment to muscle, confers environmental protection and allows growth by molting. It is synthesised five times, once in the embryo and subsequently at the end of each larval stage prior to molting. It is a highly structured extra-cellular matrix (ECM), composed predominantly of cross-linked co...

Limno-terrestrial tardigrades are small invertebrates that are subjected to periodic drought of their micro-environment. They have evolved to cope with these unfavorable conditions by anhydrobiosis, an ametabolic state of low cellular water. During drying and rehydration, tardigrades go through drastic changes in cellular water content. By our transcriptome sequencing effort of the limno-terres...

Tardigrades, also known as water bears, are small aquatic animals. Some tardigrade species tolerate almost complete dehydration and exhibit extraordinary tolerance to various physical extremes in the dehydrated state. Here we determine a high-quality genome sequence of Ramazzottius varieornatus, one of the most stress-tolerant tardigrade species. Precise gene repertoire analyses reveal the pres...
